Main research areas
Applied theatre in the service of education, training and language learning.
The main research focus/interest in this field is audiovisual (multimodal) translation, especially the translation difficulties of puns and world play in films. My experience of 13 years as a film translator helps me in this.
My research interest in ESP is the language of natural sciences, focusing on the nuclear sciences, and I published Nuclear Sciences in English in 2009 in collaboration with Buják Renáta, which was supported by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Nuclear Power Plant in Paks, and the glossary of which was claimed to be the offical English for Nuclear Sciences porefssional glossary by the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority.
The scope of my research is CLIL, which is the English equivalent of content-based language learning, and I am also concerned with two aspects of CLIL: teaching a subject (chemistry) in English as a medium of instruction, and using subject content in the language classroom (e.g. using scientific experiments in discovery and problem-based teaching).
