Katalin Piniel is an assistant professor at the Department of English Applied Linguistics at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, where she obtained her PhD in Language Pedagogy. She is particularly interested in conducting research on the dynamic interrelationship of individual differences in foreign language learning. She is currently involved in a project supported by the National Research, Development, and Innovation Office in Hungary which focuses on investigating the final school leaving examination in English as a Foreign Language. Her other research projects include scrutinizing language learning from a positive psychological perspective; namely, measuring flow in the language classroom, language learning self-efficacy, and formative assessment in the foreign language classroom. She is also interested in research methodology including meta-analyses, replication studies, using quantitative data analytic techniques such as Rasch Rating scale models, Structural Equation Modeling, and Latent Growth Curve modelling in connection with individual differences in language learning.
