My research focuses on literary translation, which I examine from both a theoretical and a historical perspective, placing it in the context of the translation’s general practices. Translation has played a decisive role in the development of the Hungarian language, literature and culture, and intellectual life since the beginnings of Hungarian literacy; its importance in the intangible cultural heritage in Hungary cannot be overemphasized. In my research, I pay special attention to translations of specific authors and literary works, French-Hungarian literary relations, the translation of youth and children's literature, the role of translators in shaping culture, and the wider social, political and cultural-political context of translation.
