In my PhD research I investigate the methodology of differentiated instruction (DI) in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL), with special regard to the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for DI purposes. As part of my research, I conduct interview and questionnaire studies to examine how EFL teachers in Hungary view the concept of DI and what challenges they encounter when implementing DI. Besides, through classroom research, I seek to identify some innovative ways of using ICT for DI in the EFL classrooms. The aim of the research project is to explore the challenges EFL teachers are faced with during the implementation of DI and to analyse how the collected good practices may provide some ways of dealing with these challenges.
