Main research areas
My research within literary studies goes in two main directions: one of them concerns Canadian literature, specifically the prose of Margaret Atwood. The other research area is the fantastic in literature, along the following lines: the works of Ursula K. Le Guin, post-apocalyptic science fiction literature, gender and the fantastic.
My research in cultural studies lies mainly within popular culture, especially genres connected to the fantastic, and includes, among others, the following topics: the trope of the voyage in science fiction, the apocalypse and the post-apocalypse in American culture, the spatial rhetorics and the material environment of post-apocalyptic narratives, posthuman utopias and dystopias, the anthropocene and the post-anthropocene in science fiction and fantasy, gender and the fantastic, and masculinities in action films.
