Main research areas
My research focuses on the Hungarian-German cultural relations in the 18th and 19th century, including a comparative study of the German and Hungarian language calendars of the Kingdom of Hungary. The most widely published printed relics of the popular culture of this era are calendars and a variety of texts published in their appendices that have informed, educated, and entertained the readership year after year.
In addition to literary studies, I process valuable calendars with the involvement of many other disciplines, which were popular readings and essential articles of use for all social strata of the Kingdom of Hungary. The cultural-historical significance of the examined German and Hungarian calendars is indisputable. The results of the research so far support that around 1800 this type of Hungarian periodical was an integral part of European popular culture, but at the same time the Hungarian and German calendar writings also show important regional features. The aim of my research is to process them and explore their cultural mediating role.
