History and Archaeology of the medieval town

One of my fields of research focuses on medieval urban archaeology, primarly on the territory of the medieval Medium Regni, that is the medieval royal seats, so the present Budapest and its 100 km sorroundings. I deal with the following topics: preurban settlements, town development, topography, urban buildings (private and public works, dwelling houses, churches, workshops), medieval manufacture, water supply, etc. My fieldworks took place primarly in the towns of the Danube Bend (Visegrád, Vác).

Medieval material culture

One of my fields of research is the medieval handcrafts.

Medieval glass manufacture

The fieldwork of the 15th century glass workshop in Visegrád (campaign of 2004-05) focused my interest on medieval glasses. Since then I try to enlarge my knowledge on the medieval glass technology (type and archaeological reamains of workshops, fragments of glass objects, their chemical analysis, etc.) in a wider context, so in Hungary and Europe (mostly Middle-Europe) in the 13th-18th century period. The analysis of the late medieval Visegrád workshop is still going on under my direction.
