Translation studies

My research in Translation Studies focuses on translation as a highly complex process of discourse production (containing features of discourse production and reproduction) and on the study of discourse level translation strategies. I investigate various types of media and scientific translation to reveal how particular discourse level features (such as cohesion, thematic structure, rhetorical structure, generic structure, etc.) creating continuity and thus coherence in discourse behave in translation. My analyses highlight shifts of translation that influence the meaning of target language discourse and thus affect the overall quality of translation as well.

Discourse analysis

Within the field of Discourse Analysis, I am interested in the study of foreign language, translational and ESP discourse production. My research intends to reveal factors of these discourse production processes that may contribute to a deeper understanding of foreign language discourse competence and also to its focused development in language education and translator training.
