My main field of research is the history of the Habsburg Monarchy in the second half of the 19th century, from a comparative (Hungarian, Austrian, Czech) perspective. Within this, I am most interested in the history of ideas, thought and culture. I am also interested in questions of the history of ideas in the classical sense, especially in the context of interpretations of the French Revolution. I am also interested in theoretical questions of historiography and the history of historiography.
