Main research areas
My researches focus on the European reception of Asian, particularly of Chinese thought between the period of the first Jesuit Mission and the early 20th century, primarily on the ways how European thinkers placed China in their own philosophical systems and interpretations of history.
My researches focus on the Japanese reception of the European, primarily of the German philosophical tradition between the Meiji period and the end of World War II, with particular attention to Maruyama Masao's understanding of history, his reflection on Hegel and Marx.
My researches focus on Max Weber's views of history, particularly on the links between his 1906 causation theory (Kritische Studien...) and the Protestantism studies, furthermore, on the relationship between these and Weber's depiction of China, as well as China's position in world history.
