I research textual and visual narratives of social memory and trauma, more recently especially in contemporary  long-form comics, including both documentary and fictional ones and cases of individual and collective memory (illness, ecology, war, genocide, etc.)  

 I conduct research on contemporary visual culture, word-and-image studies, and specifically on comics, which I study in a media theoretical and media historical framework, focusing predominantly on contemporary longform works, both fiction and non-fiction.

I do research on the transformation of reading and literacy, in particular multimodal literacy, during the gradual transition to digital culture.
