Main research areas
My research focuses on nineteenth-century Hungarian literature, with a particular emphasis on Reformed college student poetry. I primarily investigate this field through lesser-known, manuscript-preserved authors and the literary institutional cultures of Hungarian colleges. In my monograph on the nineteenth-century poet József Kováts, I was able to reconstruct his biography using a microhistorical methodology, and through archival research I collected and edited his surviving poems. My work examines how student literary activity functioned, circulated, and became canonized within the institutional frameworks of the period. More broadly, I am interested in how marginal, manuscript-based literary cultures can reshape the historical narrative of nineteenth-century Hungarian poetry.
