Main research areas
The main area of my research are the age characteristics of speech. I analyse speech from phonetic and psycholinguistic aspects. I examine the acoustic consequences of articulatory processes, the temporal parameters of speech (speech rate, articulation rate, and pausing), and disfluencies and speech errors. The age groups of my main interest are preschool, primary/elementary, young adults and the eldery.
The main areas of my research are the fluency disorders. I primarily focuse on the characteristics of cluttering. I analyze speech rate and articulation rate, specch rhythm, and fluency (pausing, disfluencies, speech arrors) in cluttering. I examine various speech tasks: spontaneous narratives, story generation, and story retelling.
I examine the fluency of speech by analysing the occurrence and characteristics of disfluencies and pauses. The research includes several speech types (reading and spontaneous speech types) and groups of speakers. Thus, I analyse the speech of speakers of different ages, as well as typical and atypical/specific speakers.
The research examine the speech characteristics of Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. For this purpose, patients and gender-, age- and education-matched control subjects were recorded using the same protocol for speech and language tests. Temporal varables of speech, fluency, voice quality and linguistic features are examined.
