My research focuses on visual material with esoteric content from the 18th and 19th centuries, including their cultural and historical contexts, and reception histories. Accordingly, my interdisciplinary research covers various fields, and their interfaces, such as art history, Western Esotericism, Jewish studies, Kabbalah, and Freemasonry. The research investigates esoteric thoughts and currents in Western culture and their manifestation in variegated visuals forms. Through thoroughly contextualised in-depth case-studies, my research contributes to our more nuanced understanding of Western culture, especially the place and function of art within it, and the cultural exchange that characterizes such cultural products.
