Classical Tibetan Language, Buddhist Philosophy, Abhidharma, History of Tibet, Alexander Csoma de Körös

The focus of my research is the scholastic branch of Buddhist philosophy, abhidharma, including the cosmology and philosophical anthropology of Buddhism, its soteriological theories, the role of meditation, as well as reductionist theories of matter, atomism with its epistemological implications. I deal with Buddhist idealism, primarily through the works of Vasubandhu. I examine the influence of Indian philosophical schools on the development of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, with particular regard to the role of scholasticism. My research area includes the early history of Tibet, the related myths, the ideological features of historiography, and the work of Alexander Csoma de Kőrös.

Atomism
