My research area is American Studies, with a further focus on 20. century U.S. History and Ethnic Studies, such as the history of Japanese Americans and African Americans, and the history of civil liberties and rights in America. Currently my research focuses on the exclusion and incarceration of Japanese Americans (1942-1945), as a manifestation of the conflict between civil liberty and national security interests in the United States.
